Nicole Labor, DO, FASAM graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor's degree in Biobehavioral Health before earning her Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her Family Medicine residency at SUNY Buffalo and a fellowship in Addiction Medicine through Geisinger at Marworth.

Dr. Labor has dedicated her career to advancing evidence-based addiction treatment while reducing the stigma surrounding substance use disorders. She began her addiction medicine career at Summa Health's Ignatia Hall detoxification unit in Akron, Ohio - the birthplace of Alcoholics Anonymous - and has since served in leadership roles across numerous treatment organizations. She currently serves as Medical Director for several addiction treatment and behavioral health programs throughout Ohio and Pennsylvania.

A nationally recognized speaker and educator, Dr. Labor has presented to healthcare professionals, treatment organizations, courts, schools, and community groups on the neuroscience of addiction, evidence-based treatment, and recovery. She is passionate about translating complex addiction science into practical, accessible education for both professionals and the general public.

Dr. Labor is the author of the bestselling The Addictoholic Deconstructed and its companion workbook, as well as The Addictoholic Reconstructing. She is also the creator of multiple addiction education initiatives designed to improve addiction literacy among healthcare professionals and the broader community.

In addition to her clinical and educational work, Dr. Labor has built one of the largest physician-led social media platforms focused on addiction medicine, reaching hundreds of thousands of followers across multiple platforms. Through her videos, podcast, writing, and online education, she continues to challenge misconceptions about addiction while making evidence-based information accessible to millions.

Dr. Labor has been in abstinence-based recovery since 2005. She lives with her husband and daughter on their hobby farm in Seville, Ohio.
